Inclement weather continues impacting roads and travel throughout Santa Cruz County. Please plan to build in extra travel time, particularly in mountainous areas where trees and downed wires may cause temporary detours. Some residents continue to experience power outages.

With a temporary break in the weather expected Thursday and Friday, wind and rain is forecast to return over the weekend. Overnight temperatures are likely to remain below seasonal norms. Libraries and other public facilities may be used to warm up, use public internet services or charge personal devices if residents are being impacted by outages. Please call ahead to confirm hours as some locations may be impacted by inclement weather. For a list of branch libraries, please visit https://www.santacruzpl.org/branches/.

The county has established temporary emergency cold weather shelters at two locations. The hours of each shelter is 8 p.m.- 8 a.m.

  • Santa Cruz Veterans Building, 846 Front St.
  • Watsonville Veterans Building, 215 E Beach St.
