Santa Cruz County is included on the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Fire Risk Reduction Community List.

This designation recognizes Santa Cruz County’s ongoing work with local partners to reduce wildfire risk through planning, public education, coordination and community resilience.

Homeowners

Some homeowners may qualify for wildfire insurance discounts. Discounts are not guaranteed and vary by insurance company, policy and the wildfire safety improvements made to your property.

Homeowners should contact their insurance agent or provider and ask:

  • Does Santa Cruz County’s Fire Risk Reduction Community designation apply to my policy? What documentation is needed?
  • Could additional property-level wildfire hardening steps could qualify my home for further discounts?
