The March presidential primary election is just months away and filing deadlines are quickly approaching.

Therefore, the Santa Cruz County Elections Department is sponsoring in September two Candidate Information Nights in an effort to inform potential candidates about the filing requirements and deadlines. The following dates and times have been set aside:

• Tuesday, September 28, 7 p.m. at the County Government Building, 701 Ocean St., Department 8, which is the portable courtroom trailer in front of the building; and
• Thursday, September 30, 7 p.m. at the Aptos Public Library, 7695 Soquel Dr., Aptos.

Elections Department staff will have the Candidate’s Handbook available to persons interested in running for office. Staff will review the steps a person must follow in order to place his or her name on the primary ballot.

Local offices up for election in March include:

• 17^th and 15^th Congressional
• 15^th State Senate
• 27^th and 28^th Assembly
• County Supervisors in the 1^st, 2^nd, and 5^th Districts
• District Attorney – Public Administrator
• 3 Superior Court Judgeships
• County Central Committees and County Councils
