Food Security

By June 2020, Human Services will have 65% of In Home Support Service (IHSS) providers and recipients who participate in the MENU program, reporting less food insecurity according to USDA assessment.

Refer recipients and providers with food insecurity to MENU, which provides food supplies and cooking and nutrition education. Conduct MENU sessions and track attendance. Re-assess all MENU participants for food insecurity.

This program, Making Easy Nutrition Useful, strives to increase food security by linking IHSS recipients to CalFresh and by training IHSS caregivers on how to prepare budget conscious healthy meals for their clients. The objective measures the food security of those recipients whose caregivers have participated in the class.
